• Photofacials Questions & Answers

Photofacials are light-based photorejuvenation therapy treatments that can be used to effectively treat a number of skin concerns. We use an intense pulsed light technology to treat concerns including redness, sun-damage, age spots, fine lines, large pores, acne, and loss of collagen. Photofacial treatments will leave your skin feeling softer and smoother with a more even skin tone. Improvements are gradual and become more visible after each treatment. We recommend a minimum of three treatments, each one month apart.
You will want to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your treatment to apply numbing cream. You will need to apply the numbing to a clean face, we have our Revitalizing Cleanser ready for you at the clinic. Once the numbing cream has been removed our provider will take treatment photos, cover your eyes with solid goggles for protection, and apply a thin layer of ultrasound gel. The treatment itself consists of multiple pulses of the laser on the treatment area until the full treatment area is covered. Once the treatment is complete, the gel will be removed, your face will be cleansed, and an appropriate, personalized skincare selection will be applied with SPF to finish your treatment.
We recommend topical numbing cream. We find with use of the topical numbing cream most patients find the discomfort experienced during treatment very tolerable.
Results are gradual and are typically seen 2-3 weeks after each treatment. Results become more noticeable with each treatment.
This varies greatly on the individual and how well they care for and protect their skin. With sun avoidance and proper skincare it is common for patients to only need 1-2 maintenance treatments every year. If you love your summer’s in the sun, it is best to plan for three photofacials each fall to minimize and repair any damage. Recommended products for this treatment are Retinol 10x, Fade, and Light or Medium Tint SPF.
